First-Time Moving Home Tips

We do need to agree that the moment of moving to another property is almost always a personal accomplishment, but it is also a very busy period, in which one must deal with numerous issues. And if it’s your first time moving homes, the mixed feelings are real!

Whether you’re moving for the first time to a property and need to put together a list of furniture for home or are going to move to a place far away where it’s not worth taking what you already have. Otherwise, the worries increase and get quite confused.

For this reason, organisation skills are always welcome when it comes to making the process smoother. Make lists, recycle, and research before packing your stuff. Thinking about that, I have decided to put together a guideline for first-time moving-home people out there.

Planning & organising

First things first, breathe in and breathe out! That would be my first tip. Then, the next step is always about planning and organising well the moving steps.

Therefore, sit calmly and write down on paper everything that needs to be provided until the day of the change. The list is huge, I know. But at least, you can start crossing out everything that is important during this process.

Make budgets for what is necessary, such as the transport company and the professional responsible for assembling the furniture, for example.

And remember that planning your move will depend on where you are going to be located. A move from home to another state or to distant cities involves even more planning in advance. Already the changes to the same city or neighbourhood can begin to be planned up to a month in advance.

If you are moving to a big capital like London, it is better to plan a free-stress move steps to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Choosing the Moving Company

Now you have a list of what you are going to take with you, it is time to choose the type of removal service you will need. It is fundamental to hire the moving company in advance to avoid setbacks and, if you are lucky, still get a discount.

Remember some companies do the whole process of moving, including boxing all your stuff, while others just carry out the transport and loading and unloading.

If you have little furniture and objects or live alone, the change may be carried out with the help of companies like The Van Man.

Larger families may need a bigger truck to make the transport. It’s important to assess this need as well.

You can search for the right house moving service in London to quote for a reliable service.

Organise your Home by Rooms

It worked for me, so I think you should use this method too. Start organising the move around the rooms, just as you did to pack everything there at the beginning.

Start with the kitchen, where you probably will have more bits and bobs to sort out.

The kitchen is also the most important room in the house. If the furniture is already installed, organise everything in the definitive place so as not to have reworked.

Then, you can pick the next room that you think would be the best match for your needs. Remember: do not be in a hurry to organise the whole process of moving to the new house.

Even if it’s inconvenient and uncomfortable to live in boxes and packages, it’s better than despairing and organizing everything anyway.

Enjoy this moment lovingly pack your things and be grateful for your now “old home”.  After all, moving house is changing your life!
